The court granted the investigator's motion, ordering Aregnaz Manukyan, a board member of the Mother Armenia party, to remain in pre-trial detention for two months, according to Armenia's Investigative Committee, as reported by Armenpress.

On the morning of July 9, the Investigative Committee announced that, within the framework of a criminal case, public criminal prosecution had been initiated against Aregnaz Manukyan under Part 1 of Article 427 of the Criminal Code, which concerns the publication of information containing state secrets.

The Mother Armenia party issued a statement saying that Manukyan had not evaded questioning and is the caregiver for a minor child.

"However, today's legal system in Armenia is delivering not justice but political persecution against opponents of the regime. Court cases, apartment searches and arrests have turned into instruments of direct punishment.

Mother Armenia calls on the public and political forces to remain vigilant and prevent the final establishment of a full-fledged authoritarian regime in Armenia. We rely on the awareness of our citizens: today they came for Aregnaz Manukyan; tomorrow they will come for each of us.

Only united resistance by society and political forces can prevent disaster. It is not too late yet. Tomorrow may already be too late.

Only through joint action is it possible to stop Armenia's course toward what we see as an inevitable disaster," the statement said.

On the morning of July 9, investigators again visited Manukyan's apartment. She was initially detained and later formally charged under Part 1 of Article 427 of the Criminal Code, which concerns the publication of information containing state secrets. The case is linked to proceedings involving Mother Armenia party leader Andranik Tevanyan, who has been accused of high treason and espionage.
