Spartak Ghukasyan, the son of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, has been released from the National Security Service detention facility. The pre-trial detention imposed on him has been replaced with house arrest.
Ghukasyan's lawyer, Hovhannes Gharakeshishyan, said the Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the court of first instance, according to Pastinfo.
"The detention has been replaced with house arrest. Ghukasyan has already been released," he said.
Spartak Ghukasyan was charged in November 2025. On that day, the Investigative Committee announced that, during the preliminary investigation of a criminal case, public criminal prosecution had been initiated against one individual under Points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code, which concerns hooliganism committed by a group of persons using information or communication technologies.
On May 27, 2026, the Court of First Instance ordered the pre-trial detention of Vardan Ghukasyan's son, Spartak Ghukasyan.
