Security chief meets EU mission head

Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan met on July 16 with Satu Koivu, Head of the European Union Civilian Mission in Armenia (EUMA). The sides also discussed the further development of their existing cooperation.

During the meeting, Grigoryan highly praised the activities of the European Union Civilian Mission in Armenia, emphasizing that Armenia remains committed to continuing effective cooperation with the mission.

Koivu thanked Grigoryan for the warm reception and commended the constructive cooperation established with Armenian state institutions, reaffirming the mission's readiness to continue working closely with them.

Satu Koivu is an experienced diplomat and security specialist. Before taking up her current post, she held senior positions in the Finnish Police and gained extensive experience in international missions, including serving in a leadership role within the European Union Police Mission for the Palestinian Territories (EUPOL COPPS) in Jerusalem. The European Union Mission in Armenia was deployed in 2023 to help enhance security and build confidence in border areas. Under Koivu's leadership, EUMA will continue its patrol activities and report on regional developments to Brussels.
