Armenia's Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved the final lists of members of parliament from the political forces that won seats in the legislature during its session today.

According to RFE/RL, members of the government, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as regional governors and other local self-government officials, submitted applications to decline their parliamentary mandates from the Civil Contract party list.

It also became known that Armenia's former ambassador to the United States and Civil Contract member Lilit Makunts has declined her parliamentary mandate. It has not been confirmed whether this means reports that she will head the Prime Minister's Office are accurate.

CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan said that former President Robert Kocharyan was the only candidate from the Armenia alliance to submit a request declining his mandate, Sputnik Armenia reported.

Ten candidates from the Strong Armenia alliance also submitted applications to decline their mandates: Gohar Meloyan, Avetis Arakelyan, Lilia Shushanyan, Artur Danielyan, Aleksandr Sargsyan, Arshavir Khachatryan, Davit Ayvazyan, Robert Dilbalyan, Hovhannes Yeganyan and Simon Babayan.

Twenty-seven parliamentary candidates from the Civil Contract party declined their mandates: Nikol Pashinyan, Ararat Mirzoyan, Anahit Avanesyan, Suren Papikyan, Gevorg Papoyan, Srbuhi Galyan, Arsen Torosyan, Alen Simonyan, Lilit Makunts, Davit Khudatyan, Romanos Petrosyan, Aren Mkrtchyan, Gnel Sanosyan, Tigran Avinyan, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Milada Hovhannisyan, Sergey Movsisyan, Hayk Ghalumyan, Vagharshak Hakobyan, Vahe Hovhannisyan, Hambardzum Matevosyan, Vahram Khachatryan, Tavros Sapeyan, Davit Arushanyan, Karen Sargsyan, Vahagn Arsenyan and Sedrak Tevonyan.

CEC member Anna Grigoryan, presenting the matter, said that the commission's decision invalidating the registration of these candidates takes effect upon publication.

Lawmakers elected in the June 7 parliamentary election are scheduled to receive their mandates from the Central Electoral Commission on July 21.

According to the final election results, the Civil Contract party won 64 parliamentary seats, the Strong Armenia alliance 29 seats, and the Hayastan alliance 12 seats.
