Beginning 2012, Armavia may not be allowed to carry out flights to Europe
Armenia's national air carrier Armavia was included in the list of countries which will be prohibited from organizing flights to Europe beginning 2012. EU has made such decision with environmental considerations. About 4000 companies, including the biggest air carriers of Russia, Europe and United States, have appeared in the list, EU official newspaper reports.

Under new EU legislation which enters into force on January 1, 2012, all air companies organizing flights to Europe must reduce emission of carbonic acids into atmosphere.

If air companies fail to meet such requirement, they may face sanctions, including new bans on flights to Europe. Air companies' monitoring into the volumes of harmful substances' emission will start in January 2010.
