The address of the foreign minister of Turkey in the parliament did not contain anything new for Armenia. But the Armenian diplomacy should take into account the statements of Ahmet Davutoglu, expert in Turkic studies Ruben Melkonyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

"Statements by the Turkish foreign minister can create new challenges for our diplomacy during the next stage of the process. The coming phase of the Armenian-Turkish dialogue, as it was expected, will be more complicated and we must be ready for it, " Ruben Melkonyan said.

Speaking about the reaction of the Turkish deputies to the statements of the foreign minister, the turkologist in particular said: "The parties opposed to the Armenian-Turkish rapprochement, do not constitute a majority in Parliament, therefore that they are unlikely to affect the ratification of the Protocols", Ruben Melkonyan said. He did not rule out that the Protocols will be criticized by the members of the ruling Justice and Development Party. "The Parliament can play a certain show, to show the world the viability of the Turkish Parliament," the expert said.
 
Nevertheless, Ruben Melkonyan considers realistic the ratification of the Protocols by Turkey. " Taking into account the decision of the Turkish National Security Council that the Protocols reflect the interests of the Turkish side, the documents will be ratified in parliament. The Turkish diplomacy will try to delay this process to force Armenia to make some concessions, " he stressed.
