US CONGRESSWOMAN CALLED ON GEOGE BUSH TO REDOUBLE EFFORTS TO SETTLE CONFLICTS IN SOUTH CAUCASUS
Congresswoman Connie Morella (R-MD) has addressed a letter to US President George Bush asking to include Armenia in regional cooperation arrangements thus redoubling the efforts to settle conflicts and establish peace in South Caucasus. According to the Armenian Assembly of America report, Morella noted in her letter that ensuring regional cooperation is an important factor in Washington policy, especially after September 11 events in New York. Excluding Armenia, she noted is "not only counterproductive to U.S. policy, but also serves to destabilize the entire region." Morella called on Bush Administration to undertake urgent steps to lift the dual blockades of Armenia by Turkey and Azerbaijan.
