Zhirayr Sefilyan will once again apply for Armenian citizenship
Armenian Ombudsman dealing with provision of citizenship and temporary residence permit to Zhirayr Sefilyan , resolved to suspend consideration of complaint filed by the committee on protection of Zhirayr Sefilyan's right to citizenship.
"The notification provided by National Security Service explains the refusal by the fact that a criminal case was instigated against Sefilyan over his December 10, 2006 public statements on violent upheaval," committee coordinator Aghavni Sahakyan said at the joint news conference with lawyer Mushegh Shushnyan.
"This notification can't serve as a reason for rejecting citizenship, as the above-mentioned accusation was not confirmed in court," she said.
Musheg Shushnyan, for his part, noted that Zhirayr Sefilyan will once again apply for Armenian citizenship.
