Weightlifters Tigran Martirosyan and Gevorg Davtyan try to make up leeway in 2010
European champion in weightlifting of 2008 and bronze medalist of Beijing Olympics in 85 kg w/c Tigran V. Martirosyan said, 2009 was not very successful for him.
Due to injury Tigran V. Martirosyan missed the European Championships in April and took part only in the World Championships in Goyang (South Korea).
Martirosyan lifted 172 kg, but a back injury prevented him from continuing his performance. He won only a small silver medal. "Now everything is coming to a normal pace," Martirosyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.
The Europe champion hopes to take part in the Championships of Europe (Minsk) and World (Antalya). Participants of the World Championships will compete for vouchers to Olympic Games in 2012.
In 2009 again the injury prevented another Armenian weightlifter Gevork Davtyan (European champion of 2006 and 2007, bronze medalist of Olympic Games, silver medalist of the World championship in 77 kg w/c) from taking part in the championships of Armenia and international tournaments.
"I continued trainings this year, but did not participate in the tournaments. I will try to make up leeway in 2010, " Gevorg Davtyan said. He will miss the European Championships in 2010, to completely recover, but will try to attnd the World Championships to win a voucher to Olympic games.
