ALMA's Contemporary Art Gallery to host violin recital with Azat Fishyan

The Amaras Art Alliance will present a violin recital with Azat Fishyan in ALMA's Contemporary Art Gallery on March 3. The program will include music by Bach, Beethoven, Chausson, Prokofiev, Vieuxtemps and Komitas, with accompaniment provided by pianist Daniel Padgett.

Native of Yerevan, Armenia, Azat Fishyan started to study violin at the age 7 at Sayat Nova Music School. At 12 he won 3rd prize in Aram Khachaturian international competition. At the age 15 he was engaged as a soloist and musician in Yuri Baghshian chamber orchestra. Throughout his musical career, he performed on different stages in Yerevan, Boston, Providence (Rhode Island), and Los Angeles as a soloist and chamber musician. In 2007, Fishyan immigrated to the US and continued his education at Longy School of Music under tutelage of Boston Symphony Orchestra's concertmaster Malcom Low and later in Los Angeles with renowned violin teacher and performer Mr. Hovsep Ketenjyan. In 2009 he won 1st prize in Richard B. Fisk young artist competition. In 2010, he performed Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No. 5 with the New Valley Symphony Orchestra.
