Tatul Margaryan: Armenia-Turkey rapprochement can’t take place to detriment of Genocide recognition

On April 21, U.S. Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues hosted annual Armenian Genocide Observance, with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) calling for official U.S. condemnation and commemoration of this crime against humanity.

As Armenian Ambassador to the U.S. Tatul Margaryan noted in his speech, Armenia-Turkey rapprochement was a chance for Turkey to come to terms with its past, but it keeps up its negation policy.

“The rapprochement can’t take place to the detriment of Genocide recognition. International recognition of the Armenian Genocide will help normalize bilateral ties,” the Ambassador said, RA Foreign Ministry press office reported.
