Atom Egoyan: historical films don't get enough attention

Historical films don't get enough attention, according to Atom Egoyan, President of Golden Apricot Film Festival.

“I saw Henri Verneuil's Mayrig long before Ararat was shot. But I was bewildered by the indifferent welcome it was given. The same happened with Taviani brothers' The Lark Farm,” he told a news conference in Yerevan.

Nevertheless, he said he was pleased with the feedback about his Ararat, which was screened in 35 countries.

“This means that even when presenting historical events, new approaches should be found,” he said.
