Chairman of the Union of Architects of Armenia Mkrtich Minasyan said that Yerevan yards have lost their charm, as they have been turned into areas for garage construction.
Taking into consideration Armenia’s dry climate, green areas should make 20 sq.m. per resident, but currently this index is cut to 4 sq.m., Minasyan told a press conference on August 7.
He noted that new buildings are constructed at the expense of yards, gardens, parks and other “unprotected green zones.”
“During construction of these buildings, the urban norms, which were developed during the Soviet era, are disregarded,” said Mkrtich Minasyan, adding that it causes concern.
