Shahan Kandaharian: Turkish factor in Middle East was pushed to background

By demonstrating anti-Israeli orientation, Turkey believes to have reached its goal, said Shahan Kandaharian, editor-in-chief of Beirut-based Aztag daily newspaper.

As he noted in a conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, Turkey-Israel relations stay on the same level despite statements on certain chilling of bilateral ties.

“Diplomatic relations are not interrupted, the two countries continuing with military cooperation. The date for Turkish Prime Minister’s visit to Lebanon has not been specified; Iranian President will arrive in Beirut in mid-September. This also suggests that Turkish factor in Middle East was pushed to the background, with Iran attempting to retain its influence,” Kandaharian pointed out.
