OSCE summit due December 1-2 in Astana will cover protracted conflicts, including the situation in Caucasus, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut stated.
As he told a news conference in Moscow, “summit participants will confirm principles of the Helsinki Act, the founding document of the organization, as well as the importance of media freedom.”
“The oncoming summit will be the first over the past 11 years to be held in central Asia, in close quarters with Kyrgyzstan, where recent upheavals occurred. The summit is an opportunity to demonstrate OSCE’s readiness to face the new challenges,” RIA Novosti cited the OSCE Secretary General as saying.
