Armenian President visits Saranist plant

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited Saranist plant to familiarize himself with the work of a new industrial unit launched in November 2010, as well as unit of polyethylene film put into operation in October 2010.

The program on increasing industrial capacities of the Saranist LLC was financed through a $3mln loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and own funds at the amount of USD 1mln.

Currently, 450 people work at the plant, with an average salary of around AMD 120,000. The enterprise supplies glass containers to 75 local (90% of the market) and 25 foreign companies.

Director of the plant Manuk Vardanyan noted that the company has continuously operated for 20 years, supplying glass containers not only to the Armenian, but also region's market, while 40% of its output is exported to Georgia.

"The new industrial unit produces glass containers based on new technologies, what will allow decreasing dependence of Armenian enterprises on import of glass containers," said Vardanyan.

Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Armenia Arsen Ghazaryan added that the quality of the plant production complies with international standards.

"We are happy to see that there is a large taxpayer, which has become the largest producer of glass containers not only in Armenia, but also in the region," said Ghazaryan.
