Azerbaijan bought arms from Ukraine, Belarus and South Africa in 2009

The United Nations Register on Conventional Arms published the report on arm purchase by Azerbaijan in 2009, the Azeri-Press Agency reported.

According to information, in 2009, Baku purchased nine Pion 2C7 203 mm self-propelled howitzers (Russian production) from Belarus, 29 122 mm 2C1 Gvozdika and 6 152-mm self-propelled howitzer from Ukraine.

Moreover, Azerbaijan bought new airborne vehicles from Ukraine and Belarus in 2009. According to information posted on the report, official Baku purchased 5 Su-25 from Belarus, one MIG-29 UB, as well as 11 Mi-24 attack helicopters from Ukraine in 2009.

Last year, the Republic of South Africa sold Azerbaijan 10 Marauder armored vehicles.
