CAVANAUGH BELIEVES ARMENIAN AND AZERBAIJANI PRESIDENTS CAN FIND PEACE AGREEMENT
YEREVAN, May 11. /Mediamax/. The chief U.S. negotiator of the OSCE Minsk Group, Carey Cavanaugh said he believes presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan can find a peace agreement that they would be satisfied with.
As Mediamax reports quoting world news agencies, the American diplomat declared this in New York, at "Armenia Investor 2001" business forum. Carey Cavanaugh said both the presidents are working hard toward the 100 percent, "and they're not there yet, but they're getting closer all the time."
However, Cavanaugh noted that getting the Armenian and Azerbaijani people behind an agreement and selling the tough compromises involved will test their political skills. "People in Armenia and Azerbaijan see the need for peace. But they don't fully see how to do compromise," the American diplomat said. --0--
