Armenian community of Hungary commemorated Gurgen Margaryan

The Armenian community of Hungary commemorated the 7th anniversary of lieutenant Gurgen Margaryan, who was hacked to death by Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov during a NATO language course in Budapest.

The speakers at the event condemned the brutal murder and thanked judge András Vaskuti for a fair court procedure.

In accordance with Budapest District Court sentence dated April 13, 2006, Ramil Safarov was life imprisoned for murdering Margaryan. On February 22, 2007, Budapest Court rejected the Azerbaijani military officer's appeal against the verdict which excluded possibility of pardon for the initial 30 years. The appeal court ruled that the ruling brought by Budapest District Court against 30-year-old Ramil Safarov, should stand.

The Armenian embassy officials and Armenian community of Hungary reiterated that they will not allow extradition of Ramil Safarov to Azerbaijan.
