Rally dated to March 1, 2008 events anniversary going on in Yerevan

A rally organized by the Armenian National Congress opposition bloc and dated to the 3rd anniversary of the March 1, 2008 tragic events is going on in Yerevan at Matenadaran, the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts.

As a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reports from the scene, board chairman of the Armenian National Movement Aram Manukyan kicked off the rally, saying that the ANC launches a series of rallies aimed at “restoration of justice and extra elections”.

According to preliminary data, about 10 thousand protesters gathered for the anti-government rally. There were also reports that some demonstrators clashed with police an hour prior to the start of the rally.

The site is controlled by the police.

Popular protests lead by first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrossian on March 1 and 2, 2008 grew into disorders, leaving 10 people dead and about 200 injured.
