British Film Festival launched in Yerevan on International Women Day

The opening ceremony of the 9th British Film Festival took place on March 8 International Women Day at Moscow Cinema.

The Grand Opening started with the performance of VO.X Britpop Band.

In his opening speech Charles Lonsdale, HM Ambassador to Armenia stated that some of the films featured reflect the issues of the women. The Ambassador expressed hope for the films to help women in the struggle for their rights, regardless of social position.

The Opening Ceremony was followed by the screening of "Made in Dagenham" movie featuring the story of Rita, a feisty factory worker who took on the biggest corporation in the world, Ford Motors. What started as a dispute over pay leads to an uprising amongst the women workers of 60s Britain that changed history.

The festival will last till March 13 in Yerevan. The towns of Vanadzor and Kapan will host the festival on March 10-12 and 14-16.
