Substitution of disciplinary arrest by disciplinary company misfortune to Armenian army

The substitution of a disciplinary arrest by a disciplinary company is a misfortune to Armenian army, according to former Deputy Defense Minister of Armenia, a member of Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group.

As Artur Aghabekyan stated at parliamentary hearings on the bill on Disciplinary Charter of the Armenian Armed Forces, the stricter is the punishment, stipulated by the disciplinary regulations, the easier it is to avoid harassment among servicemen.

Aghabekyan stressed that a disciplinary arrest must not be viewed as the actual one. “In 1997, after the visit of human rights experts to Armenia, we closed disciplinary cells and transferred them to military police. The disciplinary cells must be allocated inside the military unit,” the ex-Deputy Defense Minister said.
