FOREIGN MINISTERS OF ARMENIA AND GEORGIA STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF FORMATION OF REGIONAL SECURITY SYSTEM
YEREVAN, March 28. /Mediamax/. Stability in the Caucasian region is much stipulated by the level of Armenian-Georgian relations.
As Mediamax was informed in the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian and his Georgian counterpart Irakly Menagarishvili, who arrived in Yerevan on March 28 morning for one-day visit, stated this at today's meeting in Yerevan.
Foreign Ministers of the two countries stressed the importance of continuing works on establishing regional security and stability system in the Caucasus, noting that Yerevan and Tbilisi have no disagreements either on the principles of the system or on its format.
Oskanian and Menagarishvili discussed also bilateral political and economical ties, relations of Armenia and Georgia with their direct neighbors in the region, the recent developments in the settlement of Karabakh and Abkhazian conflicts.
Armenian Foreign Minister noted that membership of all the three states of the Southern Caucasus in the Council of Europe is a new stimulus for development of cooperation between Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan on the path of integration to Europe. V. Oskanian stressed the importance of carrying out regional cooperation programs, pointing out in this context the organization of regional IT conference, which was proposed by Armenia and supported by the European Union. --0--
