Chief choreographer: Armenian ballet needs rehabilitation

Armenian ballet needs rehabilitation, the chief choreographer at Alexander Spendiaryan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre believes.

“Armenian dancers try to perfect their “kochari” skills, while ballet school is stuck in the 18th century. Our young dancers have a fair potential, yet are untrainable, having very low muscle memories,” Rudolf Kharatyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

The artist slammed the poor repertoire of the Opera and Ballet Theatre, expressing his intention to work towards enriching it.

On May 17, Alexander Spendiaryan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre will premiere Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet ballet.
