Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian, who is in Strasbourg to participate in the 112-th session of the Council of Europe (CE) Committee of Ministers, held meetings with CE secretary general Walter Schwimmer, PACE president Peter Schieder and PACE secretary general Bruno Haller. As reported by the Armenian foreign ministry press service, in the course of the meetings the parties minutely discussed the recent presidential election in Armenia, emphasizing the importance of holding the coming parliamentary election in compliance with international standards. V. Oskanian also presented the course of fulfillment of the commitments of Armenia, undertaken when being accepted to the CE, specifically, those referring to repeal of death penalty. The same day in Strasbourg the Armenian foreign ministry head signed the European Landscape Convention. Let us note that the document determines common European requirements on preservation of landscapes and landscape planning.
