According to Twitter official blog, the network is henceforth available in Russian and Turkish, thus bringing the number of operating languages to 9.Inclusion of Russian as a popular language is seen as a normal phenomenon, as it’s spoken throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States, which formed after the USSR collapse.
Turks, however, made a clever move, presenting their non-international language in the worldwide network. Numerous Turkish communities across the globe and their penetration in all spheres of political and social life helped push the initiative.
Twitter blog said it sent this assignment to its translation center about two months ago, what means Turkish became popular in Twitter within two months. It’s is especially noticeable in the post of Twitter blog which thanked the translation center for quick and quality translation.
Meanwhile, Google Translate Armenian sector still operates in Alpha version, unlike the Turkish one.
It would be nice if Twitter made it possible for users to offer translation options in their native tongue. Besides, use of the Armenian language should be encouraged in each social network, thus increasing the number of tweeting Armenians.
