ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RECOGNITION POLICY MUST BEAR STATE CHARACTER
01.02.2001, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Member of Bureau of "Dashnaktsutiun" party Mario Nalbandian stated today at a press conference in Yerevan that Armenia may raise the question of damage compensation, caused by the Genocide of Armenians of 1915-23, on a state level only after a thorough study and adoption of corresponding legislative acts in the future.
Mario Nalbandian said that in the question of international recognition of the Genocide of Armenians it is necessary to hold a common state policy - with the participation of active national structures of the Armenian Diaspora.
Armenian President Robert Kocharian, speaking on January 25 at a press conference in Strasbourg, stated that Armenia will not raise the question of damage compensation by Turkey. However, noted Kocharian, it is not excluded that the relatives of the direct victims of 1915 Genocide will privately demand compensations. --0--
