A rather unusual way of preventive measures against ethnic conflicts was invented in the Karelia Russian region. As written by Moscow "Izvestia," within the only championship of ethnic communities in the country Armenians and Azeris, Jews and Arabs, Russians and "Caucasians" and representatives of a number of other ethnic communities conflicting in their historical fatherland meet in the football field. The teams are named after the countries and regions, which the football players consider their homeland: "Armenia," "Azerbaijan," "Georgia," "Israel," "Palestine," "Greece" and so on. Georgian, Armenian, Azeri, Jewish, Greek and Karelian teems have already participated in the current championship, which is already the third one.
