NIYAZOV WARMLY TREATS THE ARMENIAN NATION, STATES THE TURKMEN AMBASSADOR
23.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Saparmurad Niyazov treats warmly Armenia and the Armenian nation, stated the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Armenia Toyli Kurbanov in the interview to the Armenian "Azg" paper.
The diplomat said that "this is probably connected with the fact that Niyazov is familiar with history and is well informed about the Armenian-Turkmen relations, which began in the 15th century". Besides, Kurbanov noted, about 30 thousand Armenians reside in Turkmenistan, and the Armenian diaspora makes its contribution in the development of the country".
On November 29 the official visit of the President of Armenia to Turkmenistan will take place. According to Ambassador Kurbanov, during the visit the leaders of the two countries will continue the work carried out throughout the last 10 years and will determine the priority directions of the bilateral cooperation. -0-
