EU Foreign Ministers decided to support the initiative to start talks with Georgia and Moldova on creation of a free trade zone. The issue was discussed at an informal meeting on September 3-4 hosted by Polish city of Sopot, according to EU press service.

The free trade zone envisages agreements between the sides on creating a universal zone. The previous meeting on enhanced free trade between Georgia and EU took place on May 25.

Creating free trade zone is a part of associate agreement within the Eastern Partnership.

In addition, during the informal meeting EU representatives addressed the situation in Libya and Syria as well as the problem of political prisoners in Belarus.
