IRAN STILL READY TO MEDIATE KARABAKH SETTLEMENT
Iran is ready to assume mediator function in the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict if the parties request it. As reported by ITAR-TASS, Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharrazi told journalists in Baku last evening. At the same time he gave a positive assessment of the meetings of Azeri and Armenian presidents Heydar Aliyev and Robert Kocharian aiming at peaceful settlement of the conflict. As of the relations between the US and the South Caucasian countries, Kharrazi noted there would be no problems if the cooperation did not mean interference with domestic affairs of those countries, but was formed on the basis of parity and consideration of interests of the parties.
