Armenian NPP unaffected by Turkey quake

On October 23, a 9 to 10-point magnitude earthquake hit Turkey's city of Van; in Armenia, the magnitude of tremors comprised 3-5 points.

Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is located at a distance of 160 km from the quake epicentre, with 4-point tremors felt at the plant. The quake inflicted no damage on the NPP designed to withstand 9-point earthquakes.

Similarly, no settlement or a building in Armenia was damaged.

As NPP CEO Gagik Markosyan noted, minor tremors felt in the plant territory are no reason for concern, nor do they need to be commented.

Currently under renovation, the works on the plant will be completed Oct 27.
