A joint declaration of Armenia-EU parliamentary cooperation committee holds Turkey responsible for failure of rapprochement, according to the head of standing parliamentary committee on European Integration.As Naira Zohrabyan told a news conference, “the declaration defines Armenia-Turkey process and Karabakh settlement as non-connected, with Turkey’s steps having torpedoed the natural course of Yerevan-Ankara relations.”

According to Zohrabyan, the declaration states the EU support for Karabakh settlement in OSCE MG format.

The chair of Delegation to EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Milan Cabrnoch, in turn, named a peaceful settlement of the conflict as the only alternative, noting preservation of status quo as unacceptable.

In conclusion, Zohrabyan and Cabrnoch mutually stressed the importance of fair and transparent elections in Armenia.
