ARMENIAN CONSTITUTIONAL COURT DECLINED DEMIRCHIAN SUIT TO RECOGNIZE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION RETURNS VOID
The Constitutional Court of Armenia last evening declined the suit of ex-candidate for the Armenian president Stepan Demirchian to recognize the returns of the past presidential election void. Court chairman Gagik Harutyunian read the court verdict, according to which the facts adduced by the plaintiff "do not provide sufficient ground to recognize the election returns void." At the same time the Constitutional Court proposed improvements of the Electoral Code of Armenia, as well as to hold a referendum within a year to express vote of confidence to the incumbent Armenian president. Let us remind that consideration of the suit had begun April 3.
