Charging stations for electric cars to open in Moscow

The Moscow United Electric Grid Company will launch charging stations for electric motor cars on Tuesday, Feb 28, the firm said.

RIA Novosti reports that under the project, the company plans to launch 28 charging stations of various types in Moscow and the Moscow region. Fifteen stations will charge electric cars from eight to ten hours, 10 stations will charge them from about four to five hours, while three stations will provide a car charge within 20 or 30 minutes.

According to EcoVoice web-site, the Moscow government uses 38 eco-friendly electric cars made by Italy's Iveco car manufacturer. The refrigerated trucks under the Iveco EcoDaily brand name transport food products to schools and hospitals in Moscow.

The trucks can drive 80 kilometers per charge, which allows them to serve four schools or hospitals.
