Deputy of ruling Republican Party of Armenia Hovhannes Sahakyan refuted rumors that coalition parties have agreed on distributing majority constituencies during the parliamentary elections.

According to Armenian media reports, the coalition parties have agreed that RPA will take 23 deputy mandates, Prosperous Armenia will get 7, while Orinats Yerkir will be given 2 seats by majority system.

Sahakyan says that along with compilation of the proportional list, RPA is considering the number of majority constituencies to nominate its candidates as well; this figure will depend on the party's resources and chances to gain victory. “While assessing our resources, the constituencies where we have our deputies or where our territorial structures are most powerful, i.e. enjoy public support, I believe we will nominate 30 or more candidates (in majority constituencies),” Sahakyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter adding that this question is not finalized yet.

He emphasized that this is a serious figure testifying to huge support of people to RPA.

The National Assembly of Armenia comprises 131 seats; 41 deputies are elected by majority and 90 by proportional system.
