France welcomes Armenia-Azerbaijan meeting in Almaty

PanARMENIAN.Net - France welcomes the new round of negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan on May 10-11 in Almaty, the French diplomacy said in a statement on May 12.

“France emphasizes the importance of the parties reaffirming their commitment to the 1991 Declaration of Alma-Ata, the mutual recognition of territorial integrity as the basis for this process, within the framework of the quadripartite meeting in Prague on October 7, 2022,” the statement said.

In the statement, Paris called for the continuation of border delimitation based on the principles agreed in the statement of April 19, 2024.

At the same time, the French Foreign Ministry urged the parties to continue discussions with a view to signing a peace treaty.

“We welcome the initiative of the Kazakh authorities to facilitate these negotiations. France will continue to work together with its partners in the interests of establishing a just and lasting peace in the South Caucasus in accordance with international law,” the French Foreign Ministry noted.

On May 10-11, direct negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, took place in Almaty.
