Is Ankara trying to threaten the US Congress?

In the possible deterioration of the American-Turkish relations, which is, by the way, so inappropriate for Turkey on its way to EU, is first of all caused by Ankara.

Ankara is seriously concerned with the possibility that the US Congress might adopt a Resolution on the Armenian Genocide committed in 1915 in Ottoman Turkey. According to the Press Secretary of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Namik Tan, such a step will have a great influence on the partnership and strategic relations of the two countries. Tan is concerned that the Democratic Majority of the House of Representatives and the Senate, which, as Ankara thinks is "in the hands of the Armenian Lobby", might adopt the Resolution on the Armenian Genocide.
PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey cannot threaten America, like it threatens France, as the weight restrictions are obvious, however Turkey can afford to make some public announcements. Meanwhile, in the possible deterioration of the American-Turkish relations which is, by the way, so inappropriate for Turkey on its way to EU, is first of all caused by Ankara. America's irritation concerning Turkey's position in Northern Kurdistan hasn't subsided yet, and now there is this "Armenian Question" rising. In spite of the fact that Turkey is considered to be the most important strategic partner of the USA and in spite of any rearrangement in the Congress Ankara still fears. Unfortunately the question of the Armenian Genocide is a very suitable reason to call upon the American legislators to "constructiveness in the relations of the two countries". It should be mentioned that lately Turkey has started to use the question of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide as blackmail on any occasion. After Orhan Pamuk was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature, Turkish Daily News could not find anything better than accusing the Nobel Committee for its preconception. The writer was awarded the Nobel Prize also because he talked about the Armenian and Kurdish Genocide", the newspaper writes, "Turkey may also accuse Sweden of the Saami Genocide". In November Turkey "has already threatened" France with the "Algerian Genocide". I wonder what they are going to threaten Germany with; with Holocaust maybe, which the Germans have already paid off.

It is clear that the Turkish historians will be having hard times soon - the country which will be the next to recognize the Armenian Genocide must be immediately accused of having committed a Genocide of a nation living in the given territory. However, it is not the first time that Turkey has tried to rewrite its history - its first attempt was in 1922, when Qemal Ataturk announced, "Adana and its outskirts have always belonged to the Turkish nation, and we were once deprived of them by the Persians and Alexander the Macedonian. Later the Turks have gained those territories back, and today, neither the Armenians, nor any other nation has any right on them".

It should be also mentioned, that on the threshold of the Presidential Elections Turkey tries its best to free itself from its disgraceful past. And no matter how hard Ankara tries to deny extermination of not only the Armenians but also Greeks and Assyrians, the number of the countries disapproving Turkey's position is increasing year by year. And the matter is not at all in the Armenian lobby, the matter is merely in human values.
