Samvel Karapetyan: Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents’ house advertised by Kurds does not exist in Kars

PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of Research on Armenian Architecture NGO Samvel Karapetyan said that despite statements of Kurds, in reality, Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents’ house does not exist in Kars any longer.

In their statements, Kurds mention a district, where allegedly Charents’ house is located, however, there is not such a district in Kars, Karapetyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, it is just another way for earning money by Kurds.

Karapetyan said that during his visit to Kars in 2000, Kurds showed him a half-ruined house, saying that it is Charents’ house.

“Recently, I was in Kars again, this time Kurds showed another house, again insisting that it is Charents’ house,” noted Karapetyan.

Turkish media published information that the half-ruined house in Kars, where, according to statements of Kurds, great Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents was born, is put up for sale. The house is estimated at $180,000.
