World-known people likely to participate in creation of feature film about Armenian Genocide

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the National Cinema Center of Armenia (NCC) Gevorg Gevorgyan said that the NCC negotiates with several famous filmmakers and script writers around the project for creation of a film about the Armenian Genocide.

“We sent letters to world-known filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg, now we are waiting for their replies,” Gevorgyan told a press conference in Yerevan, summarizing the results of 2010.

According to him, the film, which is planned to be finished until 2015, is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

Gevorgyan also said that the NCC plans to implement a range of important projects in 2011, including a newspaper publication, organization of cinema awards ceremony, retrospective screening of films by outstanding filmmakers – Dmitri Kesayants, Edmond Keosayan and Roman Balayan, etc.

“Besides, a big concert program – Arno Babajanyan’s music in films – is also envisaged to be organized. It will be dedicated to the 90th birth anniversary of great Armenian composer Arno Babajanyan,” said Gevorgyan.
