Armenian Minister of Culture sums up the results of 2010

PanARMENIAN.Net - At December 25 news conference, Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan summed up the results of the year 2010.

Ms. Poghosyan specifically emphasized inclusion of Armenian khachkars and Aram Khachaturian’s works into UNESCO cultural heritage and memory of the world lists.

As she noted, a number of exhibitions were organized in 2010, including those at Orbeli Brothers and Khachatur Abovyan’s museums, Armenian Historic Museum. “6 major exhibitions were held in Russia, Slovenia, Lebanon, Syria and Netherlands,” the Minister stressed.

Poghosyan also referred to the Museum Night in 2010. “We organized the event for the 6th time to mark the International Museum Day. 20,000 people visited museums as part of it. Besides, a series of special events dedicated to birth anniversaries were organized this year,” she said.

Poghosyan noted that there is an important provision in the 2010 program, which has not been implemented yet – training of specialists for rehabilitation of cultural monuments.

“We still face problems with creation of centers for rehabilitation of monuments, while we lack both human resources and equipment,” concluded Poghosyan.
