Armenia to present documentaries of new format on Karabakh conflict

PanARMENIAN.Net - Filmmaker Gagik Harutyunyan said that Navigator and Baghiyan Art Video studios created a series of documentaries on the events that took place in Azerbaijan in 1988-1989, as well as the Karabakh war in a qualitatively new format.

“The format novelty is in the fact that the film consists of separate plots uniting a single story. The film duration is 7-10 minutes. Nevertheless, it raises very important issues. The films will be placed on the Web from tomorrow,” Harutyunyan told a press conference.

According to the specialist, similar films can be labeled as “coding,” as they contain many codes concerning various events.

“Currently, we present three films: story of an Armenian from Sumgait; about Maraga village; launch of hostilities by Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos) in Tegh. Conditionally speaking, the topics covered in these films are the victory’s code,” said Harutyunyan.

He added that similar films are a good method of propaganda. “The films will be translated into Russian and English languages within several months,” the filmmaker said.

Political analyst Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan said for his part that the Karabakh war is inappropriately covered in Armenian films, while Armenia is often behind Azerbaijan in this sphere.

“Azerbaijan annually creates 7-8 feature films dedicated to the war. While over 20 years we shot only 2-3 films and their quality is far from being perfect. That is why I welcome this series of films. And this project will be of continuous nature,” said Shahnazaryan.
