Paris to host exhibition on art of khachkar

PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 15-24, Paris will host an exhibition on the art of khachkar.

As Armenian Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan told a news conference, the exhibit will be held in the framework of UNESCO-organized scientific conferences, with representatives of the countries worldwide, including Armenia, attending.

The exhibit will feature photos made by Parajanov Museum director Zaven Sargsyan, portraying khachkars of different epochs.

During the exhibit, Armenian master of khachkar will be creating a cross-stone for the visitors to see.

On November 17, 2010, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared the Armenian khachkar (cross-stone) an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding.
