COALITION CABINET: TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

May 27, 2003 - 05:00 AMT  14:26 GMT
The results of Parliamentary elections announced by the Central Electoral Commission testify the victory of the Republican Party in the rivalry for the votes of the electors loyal to the government. Long before May 25th it was already clear that the main rivalry will be not between the followers of government and opposition but between the political forces inside the pro-governmental camp itself. In this rivalry the Republicans which had more administrative resources won a victory over their partners. Thus, the RPA secured its leading role in the future government. Moreover, theoretically, the Republicans may even have possibilities to form the cabinet of Ministers themselves. In any case, it is evident that the RPA will present its readiness to give certain portfolios to other parties of the alliance as a gesture of a good will towards the "poor relatives".
