Turkish activists succeed in PR action in Armenia

Beklevic and Orsek have failed the conference they wanted to organize with Analytical Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation.

October 29, 2010
The arrival of representatives of rather obscure and marginal party – Powerful Turkey – in Yerevan has become a subject of close attention of the Armenian media and some experts rather than the RA National Security Service (NSS). Possibly, everything would have been normal – rather serious Turkish experts and political analysts arrive in Armenia often and nobody invites them to the NSS. But two representatives of Powerful Turkey were invited for a “conversation,” what has caused various comments. Definitely, the October 30 events in Yerevan were an evident PR action. However, it is unclear why Armenians have fallen for it.
Armenia and world:

For the Armenian-American community party affiliation of candidates for Congress is not so important as protection of interests of the community and Armenia as a whole

Running for this election are the same lawmakers from California and other states, thanks to whom America learnt about the Armenian Genocide, Artsakh, and the problems of modern Armenia.

October 29, 2010
According to the Constitution, congressional elections are held near the midpoint of the four-year presidential term. The House of Representatives elections, and especially the Senate elections, open the way to the Capitol – the dearest wish of any American politician, especially a senator. On this long run very important it is to have the support of a strong group of voters or, at best, that of a strong lobby.

Armenians do not celebrate Navasard as national holiday because Hayk Nahapet was not Christian

Navasard had been one of the most popular holidays before Gregorian calendar took effect.

August 13, 2010
For dozens of centuries Armenians had been celebrating the New Year, Navasard, on August 11. Once a favorite popular holiday, it now became a topic of historians’ remarks or Armenian folklore only. “August 11 is the first day of the new year according to the ancient Armenian calendar. It was celebrated by all – the rich and the poor,” said ethnographer Gohar Vardumyan, senior fellow at the Armenian National Academy of Sciences.
