FAO provided USD 1,8 million funding to Armenia in 2008-2009

PanARMENIAN.Net - Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provided USD 1,8 million funding to Armenia in 2008-2009.

As FAO Director General Jacques Diouf stated, the organisation will continue their assistance in RA government-specified priority directions.

Armenian Agriculture Minister Gerasim Alaverdyan, in turn, gave high assessment to RA-FAO relations, also commenting on projects to be implemented. “USD 40 thousand was provided to Nubarashen pesticide research laboratory; development of seed farming (USD 600 thousand funding), upgrading laboratories (USD 2 million funding), and struggle against brucellosis are among FAO priority programs.”

RA Agriculture Minister pointed out fish-breeding, seed growing, insurance scheme implementation, apricots genetic centre creation, pastures amelioration among programs to be carried out in nearest future.
