Mikheil Saakashvili offers to integrate Georgian, Armenian and Azerbaijani customs systemsPanARMENIAN.Net - On July 27, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said that Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan should integrate their customs systems for the sake of population of these countries. According to Saakashvili, the Georgian and Turkish customs systems integration has contributed significantly to the countries economies. “We have managed to integrate the customs systems of Georgia and Turkey at Sarpi customs checkpoint, the same principle should be applied in case of Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Saakashvili told a meeting with the leadership of the country’s Ministry of Finance. He added that the negotiations on the issue will be complicated, but Armenia has already agreed to this. “We should work with Azerbaijan on integration of our customs systems’ integration, so that people and cargo move freely, what in its turn will contribute to more intensive development of our economies,” said Saakashvili. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision.
