27,5% actual unemployment rate reported in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - International Labour Organization has reported a 27,5% unemployment rate in Armenia, Sona Harutyunyan, the head of Public Employment Service agency at Armenian Ministry of Labour and Social Issues sated.

However, according to State Employment Service-provided data, as of August 1, 2010, unemployment rate totalled 7.1% in Armenia.

“The number of officially registered unemployed totalled 100,4 thousand as of July 2010, decreasing by 0,6% compared with 2009. The number of unemployed women remains high -70% out of the total rate,” the head of Public Employment Service agency told a news conference in Yerevan.

“Over the year 2010, 6759 found jobs against 5049 in 2009.

In July 2010, the agency submitted a list of 1779 vacancies, the number of vacancies exceeding last month’s results by 12.7% and those of last year’s by 55%,” Ms. Harutyunyan pointed out.
