Armenia, Slovenia to boost economic and cultural cooperation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar said that Armenia and Slovenia signed two agreements on economic and cultural cooperation.

The legislative basis serves as a good prerequisite for expanding the bilateral cooperation in these directions, as Armenia has a rich cultural heritage, Zbogar said during the first Armenian-Slovenian business forum which kicked off in Yerevan on October 11.

Samuel Zbogar noted that the Convention for Avoidance of Double Taxation creates a favorable investment environment, while Slovenia is open for expanding trade relations and takes care of diversifying its economy. He added that Slovenia negotiates with the EU on joining the Free Trade Agreement.

As for priority fields of cooperation, the Minister pointed to renewable energy, ecology, construction, tourism, IT, delivery of agricultural and medical equipment.

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian noted for his part that the Armenian and Slovenian authorities are ready to contribute to boosting the bilateral relations, as the available potential is used insufficiently.

Mr. Nalbandian added that the ways for expanding the bilateral cooperation will be discussed at different levels on October 11, including between the Presidents. Besides, Nalbandian said that the Armenian-Slovenian business forum will serve as a new impetus and will be aimed at implementation of new joint business programs.
