60% of Armenian economic standards in line with international requirements

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the Armenian National Institute of Standards Yenok Azaryan said that on October 14, 2010, international day of standardization will be marked under the slogan - standards assist in shaping the world available for all.

A range of national standards were developed this year in Armenia and they regulate creation of special jobs for people with visual problems, procedure for provision of social services to adults and people with disabilities, as well as in institutions dealing with children’s protection and care, Azaryan told a press conference in Yerevan on October 13.

In 2009-2010, around 210 national standards were adopted and implemented in the leading fields of Armenia’s economy, out of which 60% are in compliance with international and European standards. According to Azaryan, the application of these standards will contribute to increase in export volumes, competitiveness of products, quality improvement, innovative technologies introduction and provision of products’ security at consumer market.
